Also, a couple of erratta:
- Immediately after the show was recording, Brian Keller published a VM for the Project Server integration with TFS. Talk about a speedy response to feedback
- When talking about Rollback and how this wasn't in the UI we mentioned it was in the command line. But we kinda said that it was in the power tools when in fact it now ships in the command line for TFS2010 (and rollback is a full concept on the server - just doesn't have a menu option anywhere in Visual Studio or Eclipse
In this episode we sat down for a chat with Jonathan Wanagel who is the Principal Development Manager over at CodePlex, Microsoft's open source project hosting site. We talk about what CodePlex is, how it uses Team Foundation Server under the hood and cover some of the agile practises that the CodePlex team uses to push out a new release of the site every three weeks.

In this week's "Road to Rosario" special, we get to sit down and chat with Dr James A. Whittaker about software testing and how Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2010 Test will change the paradigm for software testing tools.
James Whittaker has spent his career in software testing. He was an early thought leader in model-based testing where his PhD dissertation from the University of Tennessee became a standard reference on the subject. While a professor at Florida Tech, he founded the world’s largest academic software testing research center and helped make testing a degree track for undergraduates. Before he left Florida Tech, his research group had grown to over 60 students and faculty and had secured over $12 million in research awards and contracts. During his tenure at FIT he wrote How to Break Software and the series follow-ups How to Break Software Security (with Hugh Thompson) and How to Break Web Software (with Mike Andrews). His research team also developed the highly acclaimed runtime fault injection tool Holodeck. Dr. Whittaker currently works at Microsoft as a Software Architect for Visual Studio Team System where he is busy transforming his testing ideas into tools and techniques for developers and testers. He dreams of a future in which software just works. Links from the show:

We're very lucky to have been granted privaledged access into the Team System team as they prepare to show us what they have been working on for the next version of Team System which has the codename of "Rosario" but will have the official name of Visual Studio Team System 2010 when it is released. PDC will be the event where they really start talking and showing us early builds of Rosario. But we are going to be giving you the inside track here, for free, over the next few weeks on RadioTFS in our special "Road to Rosario" series.
First can we thank Chuck Sterling at Microsoft who is the community lead for Team System, and has been doing all the hard work tracking down our guests for us.
In this show we talk with Habib Haydarian about the great new features coming up in the VSTS 2010 Development.
Habib is a Lead Program manager on the VSTS Development group. His main responsibilities include the Visual Studio debugger, profiler, code coverage and pretty much anything related to troubleshooting and diagnosing applications. He joined Microsoft in 2000 and has been in Developer Division ever since. Before joining Microsoft, Habib studied computer science at the Australian National University in Canberra. While not at work, Habib spends his time playing with robots, shooting hoops or chasing that elusive Yellowfin. One of his favorite possessions is a Washington state license plate with the label "RUNTIME".
Also, as you may have heard, Microsoft recently announced the fantastic news that from October 1st 2008, ANYONE that has purchased Team System Development Edition or the Database Professional Edition with software assurance will get the other product included for free. That means that if you have a MSDN premium subscription with the development edition (like many people do who had MSDN universal before that) then you will be able to download and install the Database professional edition - today, for free. Equally, if you have DataDude, you can get the Development Edition for free.

We are looking for feedback and for listener questions. So if you have any feedback on the show, what you like and don't like, things you would like us to cover, anything, send that feedback to [email protected]. Also, we are looking for listener questions that we can answer during the podcast. So send those to us as well at [email protected].
We are looking at trying to do this bi-monthly, but given that all three of us have hectic schedules, as well as Martin lives in another country, don't hate us if we don't hit that schedule every time. I'm not sure what the topic of the next podcast will be, but look for it in a couple of weeks.
Paul Hacker (editor-in-chief of TFSTimes.com) and Mickey Gousset have decided to try something new. We've created a podcast called Radio TFS where we wax eloquently (or ramble on, take your pick) about all things Team System and Team Foundation Server. For our first edition, we talk about us a little bit, and focus a good bit on Team Build.
You'll be able to tell when you listen to it that everything is completely unscripted. We did some minimal planning, but wanted to keep it kind of natural. Also, we are using Skype to do this, as Paul and I live across the country from each other. As such, my audio is a little low. We'll see what we can do to fix that at some point, but remember, this is a bootstrap operation.
The one thing I did find from this, and I think Paul will agree, is that it was a lot of fun. Twenty minutes had passed before I realized it. Paul and I are going to try and crank these out on at least a monthly basis, and possibly even more frequently.
So, go give the podcast a listen, and then email us and tell us what you think. Let us know what you liked and didn't like, or any Team System topics you would like to cover in the future. Heck, let us know if you'd be interested in being interviewed for the show.
